to be or to win.

To win his heart or to let it be?

The savage leavings of another’s selfishness…

scattered abroad for the scavenger to find.

To win his heart or to let it be.

To be a balm that salves the aches she left behind…

the mess we now see

disguised in the new love for alcohol and violence.

In the questions that know no answers,

in the savagery of his emotions,

in the unavailability of his trust.

To win his heart or to let it be.

To become the river that tides away his fears;

the benevolence he seeks behind the several wrappers

of maidens wanton and free.

To teach him to hope again in humanity

and un-dash the fragile clay pot.

To win his heart or to let it be.

To be the woman that makes him want to commit again;

make him want to dream and hope again.

The woman to call out the man in him…

To win his heart or to let it be.
